Former New Deal Police Chief Scheduled to Plead Guilty to Felony Charges

He is charged with stealing from his city. And next month, former New Deal Police Chief, Sam Butler, is expected to plead guilty.

New Deal relieved Butler of his duties last December. In February, a Lubbock County grand jury indicted him on several charges, including credit card abuse, felony theft, and perjury.

Court records show Butler wrapped up his hearings this week. He is scheduled to plead guilty on November 27, 2007.
