David Miller Intends To Run For Re-Election

He's not making it official just yet but Lubbock Mayor David Miller is planning to run for re-election in 2008.

Miller says, "Certainly, it is my intention to run again. Right now, I'm focusing on being the best mayor I can be. There are a lot of things going on in the city right now. I want to take care of those things before the distraction of a political campaign.  I need to keep my eye on the proverbial ball."

Meanwhile, the man who announced his candidacy on NewsChannel 11 at Six Wednesday is already explaining why he's running.

Tom Martin says, "My reasons are simple. I know how to do the job. I know I can do the job and most importantly I enjoy doing the job."

Martin made his first campaign speech at Canyon West shopping center Thursday. He's credited with bringing the development to Lubbock.
