An armed carjacking suspect is in the Lubbock County jail Friday, after a witness contacted authorities.
According to police, officers responded to a report of shots fired near 45th and Elgin, just before 2:00 p.m.
A witness called 911 after his friend was robbed at gunpoint. The suspect then drove off in the victim's red BMW. The witness followed the vehicle, until it was abandoned behind a Long John Silver's restaurant near 50th and Avenue J.
Police caught up with the suspect, based on his reported description. He was arrested, and taken to jail.
The name of the suspect and his charges, have not yet been released.
