Attempted Robbery Ends With Robber Being Shot And Killed

At 3:30 p.m. Saturday a man attempted to rob the Carl's Corner Convenience Store at 98th and MLK Blvd. The robber fled the scene in a green Toyota Tercell. The convenience store clerk chased the robber in a white Jeep Cherokee. While chasing the robber, the clerk called the police.

When Lubbock Police and Lubbock Sheriff Deputies arrived on the scene at MLK Blvd. and Highway 84, the robbery suspect was found shot in the clerk's Jeep Cherokee.

The robber died en route to an undisclosed area hospital from a gunshot wound to the chest.

This is currently an active homicide investigation.
