A Loop high school ag teacher and student are okay after a bizarre accident that left one person dead.

It happened on Interstate 20 near Abilene Sunday night. Four men were riding in a truck, where one of the passengers was holding a deer rifle. The rifle accidentally went off, fatally shooting the driver, James Michael Edwards, 22, of Abilene. Edward's truck crossed the median and collided head on with another truck.

Loop teacher Jared Floyd and student Phillip Mitchell were in that truck. Both were treated for injuries.
