First lady, Laura Bush, began her day in the Panhandle, before returning to her home area in the Permian Basin.
Her first stop was in Amarillo, where she attended a roundtable discussion and luncheon at the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health. In August, the institute established in 2000 was renamed in her honor, but this was her first opportunity to tour the facility. Her father attended Texas Tech in 1932.
The First Lady's Red Raider tour continued in Odessa Wednesday afternoon, where she attended a reception at the Texas Tech University Permian Basin Campus in Odessa.
Thursday, Mrs. Bush will travel to Dallas, where she will deliver remarks at the fifth regional Helping America's Youth conference at Dallas Baptist University. She will also deliver remarks at a Project HOPE event, to be held at a private Dallas residence.
