A driver escaped injury when a new school bus headed for San Angelo ended up on its side in a field, just south of Lubbock.
The driver, Kenneth McCool from Ralls, was alone in the bus that was being delivered to the San Angelo Independent School District.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says the accident happened around 7:15 a.m. Monday along Highway 87.
DPS spokesman Tom Vinger says the preliminary cause of the accident seems to be the air brakes malfunctioned.
Conditions were foggy, but Vinger said weather was not believed to be a factor in the school bus wreck.
