The site of a gas leak in West Lubbock is now secure, but not before homes in the area were evacuated and an intersection shut down.
The cause of the leak appears to be the result of a problem with some equipment installed Friday and they believe the diaphragm that ruptured was a faulty one from the manufacturer.
Once West Texas Gas was called, they called West Carlisle Fire Department who shut down road at FM 179 and Erskine. Firefighters evacuated close to 20 homes from 4th to Erskine and County Road 1300 to 1500.
Within the hour, West Texas Gas crews had shut off the gas in the area.
Firefighters say no one was hurt or injured and once again, residents in the area are free to return home.
