13-Year-Old Stabs Father In East Lubbock

A 13-year-old Lubbock boy is in custody and accused of stabbing his father. We're still working to learn more about this incident but we do know the father is at a local hospital with serious injuries.

The stabbing happened at 312 51st Street just before 7 p.m. Wednesday. A NewsChannel 11 crew was on the scene just moments after the incident occurred and we spoke to the suspect's 9-year-old brother off camera. He tells us his brother and dad were having a fight. The 13-year-old reportedly left the room to cool down and when he came back he had a knife in hand and allegedly stabbed his father.

People in neighborhood say this family hasn't lived there long.

"This is a pretty good neighborhood I mean we haven't had any problems. Everybody gets along with everybody, we all know each other. They haven't been here very long, maybe three months or so," said Samuel Gonzales.

Other neighbors on the street say this family had been having some trouble but they never expected anything like this to happen.

The boy is in the custody of the Lubbock County Juvenile Center.
