Winter is approaching, and it will once again be time for icy road conditions. However, new technology used in construction of the Marsha Sharp Freeway will allow an easier commute for drivers during the icy weather.
"We have the supply lines actually embedded in the pavement," said Penny Mason, spokesperson for the Texas Department of Transportation. "We'll have the nozzles that will automatically put out our de-icing material, magnesium chloride, when the temperature and moisture levels reach a certain point."
Mason says that the new system will save on man-power, since most of it will be run from a computer.
