A new report from Mental Health America has ranked states from the most to the least depressed.
Researchers ranked the states using data on their mental health resources and utilization, education level and healthcare costs including insurance coverage for mental health.
They found that Utah is the most depressed state and that South Dakota is the least depressed. Texas came in at number ten on the list of the LEAST depressed states. Rates of depression varied from about 7% in the least depressed states to over 10% in the most.
Experts say that even the top-ranking states should not be satisfied. They say more things need to be done to improve insurance coverage and utilization of mental health services.
