20th Annual World AIDS Day

Saturday marked the 20th anniversary of World AIDS Day. Employees with Managed Care of Lubbock were on hand at United Market Street Saturday hoping to raise awareness about testing and support groups.

"We are here to promote HIV and AIDS awareness and to let people know that HIV and AIDS is still prevalent in the world, United States, Texas and especially in Lubbock County." said Barrett Bridges with Managed Care of Lubbock.

In Lubbock County 926 people have HIV and there are 240 people suffering from AIDS. Texas Department of State Health Services Commissioner David Lakey says it's important that people be educated about the risks, know their HIV status and get tested if they're unsure.
