The FDA Clears Popular Drug for Cosmetic Use

Lots of people are turning to Botox injections now to erase fine lines and wrinkles. So if that sounds interesting, but a little scary, you will be glad to hear that Botox should be available soon for cosmetic use.

The popular drug has been cleared by the FDA for treating brow and facial lines. As it is now, the Botox look requires repeat injections every three to six months and those treatments cost about $500. It's been a popular wrinkle fighter since 1989 when doctors used it to treat eyelid muscle spasms and discovered that it also erased wrinkles near the eye.

Allergan is the manufacturer that has announced it will be producing Botox soon for cosmetic use, but no word on how much that will cost or how it will be available.
