One of the stores inside the South Plains Mall won't stay long past the holiday season.
Mall administrators tell us KB Toys will not renew their lease, which expires January 31.
According to the Washington Post, 156 KB Toys stores throughout the country are closing. The newspaper cites the company's internal documents, which underscore the cutthroat competition facing toy retailers this holiday season.
Wal-Mart is now the top U.S. toy seller, with about 26 percent of the market, according to Howard Davidowitz, chairman of Davidowitz & Associates, a national retail consultant and investment banking firm. Davidowitz told the Post, that KB Toys' market share is negligible.
