Actor Robert Urich died overnight at a California hospital after a battle with Synovial Cell Sarcoma. That is a rare form of cancer that attacks the joints.
The Emmy-winning actor is best known for starring roles in the T.V. series "Vega$," "Spencer: For Hire," and "Soap." His cancer had gone into remission after two operations and other treatment.
The actor spent his latter years devoted to cancer research and education. He and his wife established a cancer research fund at the University of Michigan. He is survived by his wife and three children. Robert Urich was 55.
