Ballet Lubbock Presents a Holiday Tradition: The Nutcracker

The curtain will rise on a holiday tradition Thursday.

Ballet Lubbock is using a cast of nearly 200 dancers to tell the story of The Nutcracker. There are a few special guest dancers from New York City, but most are local and area students who have grown up dancing on stage.

"I love it," said dancer Michael Burfield. "I mean I love being on stage. It's an incredible feeling. I love the applause from the audience and it's just an incredible feeling."

There will be five shows at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center beginning Thursday, December 13 and continuing through Sunday.

Tickets are about eighteen dollars, and can be purchased through Select-A-Seat.
