Over 1,000 Lubbockites can call themselves fit and healthy. That's how many people took part in a 12 week challenge called "Get Fit Lubbock."
The participants exercised and competed as teams. In all, they lost a total of 5,694 pounds. Thursday, their efforts were recognized at the Get Fitters Ball.
Chris Gallarneau was recognized as the overall male winner, losing 57 pounds. The overall female winner was Carlota Reigner. She lost 44 pounds.
Reigner says, "I think I was more focused on the team effort instead of just dieting and the weight just came off." Both winners will receive a free one year membership to Bodyworks.
