A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that injury death rates among American adults have climbed more than five percent, after 20 years of decline. The CDC places part of the blame on an increase in prescription drug abuse.
The biggest increase is in the 45 to 54-year-old age group and among young adults in their 20's.
Unintentional poisonings account for more than 50 percent of the increases in each group. The CDC says that is likely due to overuse and abuse of prescription drugs.
