With Christmas a little more than a week away, there are several postal deadlines we all need to know about.
Saturday was the last day to send mail at the parcel post rate which is the cheapest way.
And package after merry package are heading to destinations across the country and around the globe. From North Carolina to Oslo, Norway, Lubbockites were sending packages out in droves to meet the deadline. But there was a unique story among the crowd today.
"I wanted to send a few Christmas cards to soldiers overseas," said Cynthia Craker.
Craker asked the military if she could help by just sending a few.
"And they sent me 720 requests for Christmas cards," she said.
So Cynthia set up shop at stores across Lubbock to involve the community. When it was all said and done, "I've sent 1690 cards," Cynthia said.
If you didn't get your packages in the mail Saturday there are two more deadlines you should mark on your calendar.
The deadline for priority mail and any cards or letters you're sending is December 20th, and if you want to push the envelope, you can wait until December 22nd to send your parcels and packages via Rxpress Mail.
If you have any questions for the post office about sending your gifts, you can call (800) ASK-USPS and they'll be able to help you out.
Lastly, if you're sending anything overseas, unfortunately, those Christmas deadlines have all already passed.
