Texas Tech Chancellor Kent Hance is taking action to make sure the university gets off probation quickly.
Hance says, "The main thing we want to do is see how it fell through the cracks."
The chancellor has formed a three-member team to investigate why Texas Tech ended up on probation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accreditation agency. The university apparently failed to give the agency some data and information on time.
The chancellor says he is now making sure his office gets monthly reports from the accreditation agency so that his office can be the one to make sure deadlines are met.
