Plainview Prison Guard Indicted in Beating Death of Inmate - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

A Plainview prison guard has been indicted on a murder charge in the death of an inmate.

NewsChannel 11 was the first to tell you about the inmate's death last month.

28-year-old Jose Rodriguez is a corrections officer for the Wheeler Unit in Plainview.

Rodriquez was indicted by a Hale County Grand Jury in the death of 52-year-old Paul Ray Judia. The indictment says, Judia died days after his head was slammed into a cell wall.

Warden David Cole says the November 12 incident happened "during a major use of force" after the inmate allegedly kicked Rodriguez.

Judia died November 15 at University Medical Center in Lubbock.
