Amarillo Police believe the weather was a factor in a massive pileup on Interstate 40 that killed one person and injured more than two dozen others.
Police say that more than 50 vehicles, including several tractor-trailer rigs, were involved in the chain-reaction accident Saturday.
Police believe the pile up was caused due to poor visibility from blowing snow across the plains.
A Potter County Justice of the Peace confirmed one person was killed in the pile up.
Sgt. Michael Poston said that it might take a couple of days to figure out exactly how many vehicles were involved.
He said that 18 people were transported to area hospitals and two of those people had life-threatening injuries.
