Southwest Sends 171 Soldiers Home For Christmas

Posted:

Southwest Airlines is spreading some holiday cheer for families of the Texas Army National Guard. The airline flew 171 soldiers home for the holidays...for free!

"This is the only Christmas present I ever wanted...this time. To be home with my son," said Lt. Sandy Martinez.

The troops, temporarily stationed in North Carolina, learned at the last minute that their deployment to Afghanistan had been delayed.

So with some soldiers not being able to afford a flight to Dallas Fort-Worth, Southwest stepped in and flew them home.
