Lubbock Fire Department Investigates Possible Arson

The Lubbock Fire Department is investigating possible arson in Northeast Lubbock.

The fire marshals office tells NewsChannel 11 the fire in a home on the 2100 Block of Avenue U appears to have been intentionally set. A neighbor reportedly called 9-1-1 just before seven p.m. At this time no one lives in the home.

Lubbock Fire Department Battalion Chief Michael Lewis said, "We pulled up and we had smoke showing. The first engine opened the door. Fire come out the door and they started putting it out."

Firefighters had the blaze under control in 10 minutes. However close to half the house was burned.
