The long-term results of Lasik surgery are in, and researchers say the effects appear to last. Researchers in Spain studied more than 100 previously nearsighted Lasik patients 10 years after surgery.
They found 60 percent of patients had almost exactly the same vision they had immediately after surgery. Twenty-seven percent had undergone retreatment or their vision had started deteriorating and 40 percent never needed glasses again.
Most patients did not suffer serious side effects.
