Arson Suspected In Central Lubbock Fire

Authorities are still looking for a suspect who may have sparked a fire late Saturday afternoon.

Newschannel 11's tower cam captured the smoke as the flames broke out in the 2100 block of 21st street around 4:00pm Saturday afternoon.

We're told the building is an old plant nursery, and that it's been empty for about a year. Fire crews remained on scene past nine o'clock, closing down part of Avenue U for a few hours.

The suspect is described as a white man, between five-foot-seven and five-foot-eight inches tall. He has blonde hair, and was last seen wearing a black winter cap, and all black clothes.

The nursery sits next door to a home that caught fire thursday night.

The fire marshal's office says it appeared no on lived in the home, and that it was intentionally set. There's no word, yet, if these two fires could be connected.

If you have any information about either of these fires, give the lubbock fire marshal's office a call at 775-2646.
