Red Raider Fans Unite Before The Game

Lubbock sports bars and pubs were packed New Years Day for one reason and one reason only, to watch the Red Raiders take on Virginia at The Gator Bowl.

"A lot of red and black so that's good," said one fan.

Places like McGilliguty's on Quaker and Buffalo Wild Wings on University were sporting the red and black to show their support of Texas Tech. And patrons at both "got their guns up" in support, too.

"Our boys enjoy watching Texas Tech football almost as much as we do," said Barbara Newsom.

"34 to 14... They have the air raid... They're going to go all day long and they're going to score a lot," said Katherine Crumberly.

That wasn't quite the outcome we got, but 31 to 28 had fans believing in the red and black more than ever!

"We told 'em we're only paying for college as long as they go to Texas Tech," Newsom added.
