Texans Sign Linebacker Robert Jones and 14 Others

On Thursday, the expansion Houston Texans signed former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Robert Jones. Jones is one of 15 roster additions. Jones was drafted by the Cowboys in 1992. He's played 150 career NFL games with Dallas, the St. Louis Rams, the Miami Dolphins, and last season, the Washington Redskins.

The Texans also claimed punter John Baker off waivers from St. Louis. Baker is a Brenham native who played college ball at North Texas. Houston also signed 13 undrafted rookie free agents:

  • Linebackers: Tyrone Jones of Texas, Robert Mackey of Winston-Salem State, Jimmy McClain of Troy State, Terrell Washington of Illinois, and Aaron Thompson of Maryland
  • Wide Receivers: John Minardi of Colorado and Eric Parker of Tennessee
  • Running Backs: Delvon Flowers of Arizona State and Ed Stansbury of UCLA
  • Offensive Tackles: Jelani Hawkins of San Jose State and John Miller of Duke
  • Cornerback Larry Austin of Virginia Tech
  • Tight End Joey Knapp of Texas-El Paso
