Plainview Prison Guard Accused of Murder, in Police Custody - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

The Plainview guard accused of fatally slamming an inmate's head into a cell wall is now in police custody.  

Jose Rodriguez, 28, was a corrections officer for the Wheeler Unit in Plainview.   A Hale County grand jury indicted Rodriguez last month for the death of Paul Ray Judia. The indictment says, Judia died days after his head was slammed into the wall.

Warden David Cole says the November 12th incident happened "during a major use of force" after the inmate allegedly kicked Rodriguez.

Judia died November 15th at University Medical Center, in Lubbock.
