The price of natural gas will be going up, but not anytime soon.
On Thursday, the Lubbock City Council voted to delay a natural gas rate increase. The city and Atmos Energy will continue to work on a new billing system.
The issue will be taken up again in 45 days.
However, if talks fail, residential bills will increase in early Spring, adding .70 cents to the base rate.
