Speeding Driver Crashes Into Southwest Lubbock County Gas Line

He was running late to work Thursday morning, and lost control of his car. That led to a gas leak in southwest Lubbock County.

DPS troopers joined the Lubbock County Sheriff's deputies, and Atmos at FM 179 and Woodrow Road around 7:00 a.m. Thursday.

Corporal John Gonzalez says Billy Jack Burns, 37, was speeding when he lost control of his car, and collided with a gas line.

EMS took Burns to Covenant Medical Center, where he was last reported to be in critical condition.

Authorities diverted all traffic to the area, while Atmos crews made the necessary repairs.
