An NBA league source says that San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan will be named the league's Most Valuable Player. The source says the five year veteran outpolled New Jersey Nets guard Jason Kidd by a narrow margin for the award.
Votes were cast by a panel of 126 media members before the playoffs began. The San Antonio Express-News says that Duncan's selection will be made public at a Thursday news conference in San Antonio.
Duncan is scheduled to be honored on Friday at the Alamodome, prior to Game 3 of the best-of-seven series between the Spurs and the Los Angeles Lakers.
