Lubbock City Employees will enjoy a long weekend. All city offices will be closed Monday in observance of what would have been Martin Luther King Junior's 79th birthday.

Kings birthday is celebrated as a federal and state holiday on the third Monday of January. However, Lubbock-ISD and several other area school districts will have classes on Monday.
