Lubbock authorities have issued a warrant for the man who allegedly stabbed his wife in her sleep on Saturday. The couple resides in the 5500 block of 101st Street, in southwest Lubbock.
Investigators say Maria Gordillo, 38, went to bed around 11:45 p.m. Friday. When she awoke, her husband was allegedly on top of her with a knife. Gordillo told police he hit her in the mouth with the end of the knife, knocking out some teeth. She says when she tried to grab the knife, the blade cut her hand. Gordillo says her husband then stabbed her in the head multiple times.
Maria Gordillo was treated and released from University Medical Center.
Her husband, Martin Gordillo, is now charged with aggravated assault. He is a Mexican national and could be headed across the border.
