Dan Pope to Announce Candidacy for LISD School Board District #5

Local business executive and Lubbock Independent School District Board of Trustees member Dan Pope will formally announce his candidacy for the school board this Thursday, January 24th.  A news conference is scheduled for 11:00 am at the front entrance of Roscoe Wilson Elementary School, located on 25th  Street between Canton and Elgin Avenues.

In August, 2007, Mr. Pope was appointed to fill the District #5 LISD school board position, which was vacated by Mark Griffin.

Pope, a Texas Tech graduate, and his wife Denise are the parents of two LISD students.

Pope served as President of the LISD Foundation for Excellence in 2002, and chaired the LISD Bond Advisory Committee in 2004.

"A quality education for all our children is vitally important to the future of Lubbock and West Texas," said Pope. "And the quality of education offered at LISD is one of the finest anywhere in our region and the State."
