Political Signs Stirring Up Trouble

The presidential race isn't the only political race heating up. It seems there are some political fireworks happening right here in Lubbock County. Ysidro Gutierrez has an opponent in the Precinct Three County Commissioner race - Gilbert Flores.

Wednesday Gutierrez called his opponent out about some of Flores' political signs saying they violate state ethics codes.

"My opponent is distorting the facts and he is running a campaign of misinformation and he should stop it right away," said Gutierrez.

"I have very few of these signs that are in question out. I will fix 'em. I'm not going to throw 'em away. And I am not going to take 'em down.  I will fix 'em so they can comply with the ethics on state standards," said Flores.

Gutierrez says that Flores should know about the state regulations governing political signs because Flores served as a County Commissioner for 12 years. Flores fired back by saying these political signs and any problems with them are small compared to the bigger picture and the problems in Lubbock county.

Both men are running for the democratic spot in the primary. Frank Gutierrez is running unopposed on the republican ticket
