Clovis Child Abuse Conviction

A man accused in the death of a 9-month-old baby has been found guilty by a Clovis jury.

Leroy Jaramillo, 44, was arrested in December 2005 on a charge of child abuse resulting in a death.

The baby, Cristyan Ibarra, died in a Lubbock hospital in October 2004 from extensive hemorrhaging of the brain and closed head injuries. Authorities say the injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome.

Jaramillo faces up to 18 years in prison.
