High Winds Fuel Cotton Burr Fire in Floyd County

Since Monday, high winds have helped spread fires across several counties.

At least five area fire departments were called out to Floyd around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

NewsChannel 11 has learned that 40 to 50,000 bales of cotton burrs caught on fire and then spread to the surrounding grass.

At one point, the fire was even threatening a home nearby.
