Lubbock Army Reserve Unit Returns From Iraq

An entire Army Reserve unit is home after spending more than 15-months in Iraq. Ruben Picon says, "I feel good to know what we did and can come back and rest knowing we did good. We left as a unit and we're coming home as a unit." Picon was the first member of his unit to return to Lubbock Wednesday afternoon.

It was a moment that brought this soldier to tears. Picon saw his daughter briefly on a leave when she was two months old and says he didn't recognize her Wednesday at nine months old. Picon says, "I know how to lead soldiers. Now I have to learn how to lead a family, and it's a learning experience I'll have for the rest of my life."

Picon returned to the airport nearly three hours later along with a host of other families to welcome home the rest of his unit. Six other men and women came home and as you can expect they were greeted by cheers, hugs and plenty of posters and American flags.
