Community Rallies Around "Hearts and Hooves" Mini-Horses

There has been an outpouring of support, for Hearts and Hooves of Lubbock, after a pit bull attack killed one horse, and injured four others.

Hearts and Hooves is a non-profit group that takes the miniature horses to visit people who need therapeutic healing.

The horses were attacked in their stable Thursday, and the dogs were captured.  A microchip led authorities to the dogs owners, who immediately surrendered both animals to Lubbock Animal Services. The pair are scheduled to be put down on Friday.

Kauli Sparks, of Hearts and Hooves, hopes to build a tall fence around the stable soon, but first she has thousands of dollars in veterinary bills to take care of.

If you can help, donations are being accepted at Security State Bank and also HF&C Feed, located at 7811 West 82nd Street.

Meanwhile, one Lubbock area man is making an extraordinary donation to Hearts and Hooves,  Kenny's Corral donationed one of there miniature horses to Hearts and Hooves.
