Two Littlefield Students Killed in Rollover, 2 Injured

Littlefield ISD is in shock today, after the tragic death of two Littlefield High School students. Two other students are seriously injured.

The teens were on their way to a basketball game in Lockney Tuesday, when the driver of a 1998 Chevy Cavalier lost control of the vehicle. It happened at 6:25 p.m., on FM 400 at County Road 185, east of Hale Center.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety Corporal John Gonzalez, Charles Brown Jr., 18, was northbound on FM 400, and lost control of the vehicle as it swerved right. He overcorrected, and the car went into a side skid and rolled once.

Brown was thrown from the vehicle, along with two backseat passengers, twin sisters Kara and Tera Mitchell, 15.

Aerocare flew Brown to University Medical Center in Lubbock. He was pronounced dead about 90 minutes after the accident.

Brown's cousin, Crystal Ann Brown, 16, was a front seat passenger. Aerocare flew her to Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, where she died around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Kara and Tara Mitchell remain hospitalized in Plainview with serious injuries.
