For the first time ever, Lubbock County Commissioners are reaching out to residents who burn their trash but can't because of the burn ban. The burn ban went into effect February 1st and won't end until May 30th, so that puts a strain on those who burn their trash.
So to accommodate those people, the county will place four dumpsters in Wolfforth, Slaton, Idalou and Shallowater. The dumpsters are for bagged trash only, no bulky items or construction materials.
Commissioner Patti Jones says, "What we ask is for households to start reducing household waste and to start recycling paper, plastic and glass. Crush as much trash as you can."
The dumpsters will be in place by the weekend. The dumpsters will be located at the following:
- 301 Dowden Road in Wolfforth
- 700 W. Woodrow Road in Slaton
- 304 E. 1st Street in Idalou
- 804 8th Street in Shallowater
