Tom Martin, a former Lubbock City Councilman and Mayor Pro-Tem, has officially filed his intent to run for mayor, with the City of Lubbock.
Martin lost a bid for mayor in 2006, to current Lubbock mayor David Miller. He continues to serve the city on Lubbock's Metropolitan Planning Organization, as well as the Ports to Plains coalition, and Tex-21.
Martin was unable to file in person. He is currently in Washington D.C., as part of his duties as vice chairman of the Ports-to-Plains Corridor Coalition. So his wife, Karen Martin, delivered the necessary documents to the city secretary Monday morning.
Mayor David Miller tells NewsChannel 11 that he has not ruled out a run for reelection.
