Clothing That Can Generate Electrical Currents

Posted:

Imagine if someday your workout clothes could power your iPod. Researchers at Georgia Tech say that is very possible. The pictures show tiny nano-wires that, when rubbed together will generate an electrical current up to 80 millowatts.

Researchers are proposing manufacturers incorporate these little wires into clothing, allowing whoever wears them to generate enough power to operate small electronic devices. This would be a huge benefit to soldiers and hikers.

There is one major problem though, so far the wired clothing can't get wet. But researchers say they're working on that.
