Look closely at your February water bill, because next month all water and sewage customers will begin paying more.
The city council voted unanimously Thursday to raise water and waste-water rates. The increases will pay for a $240 million pipeline and treatment plant to draw water from Lake Alan Henry. It will also pay for a new wastewater treatment facility that will lay the groundwork for recycled wastewater.
Water bills are going up by a flat 16% rate. On average the bill payer will see a $3.57 increase in their winter bill, and about a $6.44 increase in summer.
Sewer rates are going up 8%, and that bill will increase an average of $1.32 a month.
You should see the changes beginning in March.
