The medical world is buzzing about new stroke research. Researchers believe a popular vitamin could provide valuable protection against strokes.
Dr. Elliot Trotter, an emergency medicine physician says, "Well it certainly appears that people who have high levels of vitamin C typically do better or have less likelihood of having a stroke."
Dr. Trotter is referring to new research published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. The study finds that people with the highest concentration of Vitamin C had a 42% lower risk of stroke.
Study authors admit that this could be coincidental, since people with higher levels of Vitamin C are usually healthier anyway. It's hard to say whether that vitamin should take the credit. But researchers say either way, this indicates it may be worth the effort to add Vitamin C to your diet every day.
