New Traffic Signal on Indiana Avenue

A new traffic signal at Indiana Ave. and Indiana Dr./ 79th St. will be placed in full operation this Thursday morning, February 21, 2008, at 10 a.m., weather permitting.

It will run in flash mode (yellow flash on Indiana Ave. and red flash on Indiana Dr./79th St.) until Thursday morning to bring attention to the new signal before it goes into full operation.  Citizens are advised to pay close attention when traveling on Indiana Ave. between South Loop 289 and 82nd St. to this new signal location.

The traffic signal is part of the Capital Project Bond Funding approved by the voters in 2004.  The location of the traffic signal was approved by the Citizens Traffic Commission in December 2006 following a public meeting and comment period, where it received overwhelming support of the citizens in this area.
