Ralls Product Calderon Signs With Lady Chaps

The LCU Athletic Department and Head Coach Shanon Hays are pleased to announce the signing of Ralls High School Lady Rabbit Morgan Calderon to play softball at Lubbock Christian University next season for the Lady Chaps.

Calderon, currently a senior at Ralls High School, is aiming this season for another District 4-A title and a third consecutive All-State individual honor.  The 5'3" shortstop batted .517 last season for the Lady Rabbits and was named the District 4-A Offensive MVP.  She was also named All-District First Team Infielder, and was a Class A All-State selection by the Texas Girls Coaches Association and by the Texas Sports Writers Association (Third Team).  As a sophomore in 2006, she claimed All-State honors by the TGCA after batting .677 with a .765 on base percentage.  She was also selected as an All-District First Team Infielder as a sophomore.

The signing was conducted at the Rip Griffin Center with family, friends and representatives of LCU and Ralls Independent School District on hand. The Lady Chaps softball program, currently playing in their first season of play, holds a 4-0 record, and they return to action Thursday at Plains Capital Park with a doubleheader against defending NAIA Champion Oklahoma City University beginning at 1 p.m.
