Investigators Check Into New Leads In Wilson Death

New tips are coming into the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office, following Wednesday's announcement that the body found in Yellow House Canyon is that of 17-year-old Bernard Wilson.

A passing motorist found the remains in December of 2005.  Investigators tell NewsChannel 11 they found evidence showing a violent crime took place and that Wilson had been tied up.

Investigators released a new sketch of the victim back in December.  The very next day, Wilson's father told investigators that the drawing looked like his son.  DNA testing confirmed Wilson's identity.

The sheriff's office could not go into detail about this active investigation, other than telling us that new information has come into their office. Right now, they are looking into those tips, hoping to find out what happened.

In the meantime, if you know anything about Bernard Wilson's death, please call the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office at 775-1600.

Family members are planning a funeral for Bernard. A fund has been set up to help with those expenses. You may donate at any Wells Fargo Bank.
