The Texas Department of Transportation will apply a sealant to bridge decks on the South Loop this week. Work will start at 9 a.m. Wednesday and be finished by Sunday, March 2.
Motorists should expect lane closures throughout the week at each of the bridge locations from Slide Road to the Interstate. Traffic could be down to one lane at some locations, but only for a brief period each time.
Contractors will work day and night during nonpeak hours: 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until midnight. The flyover-eastbound from Loop 289 to northbound Interstate 27 will be closed Wednesday night from 8 p.m. until midnight to allow contractors to apply the treatment.
TxDOT applies the sealant every few years to protect bridge decks from water damage, thus extending the surface life of the structure.
